The ruling elite has always tried to silence voices of dissent. Because of this, many activists have been targeted, harassed, surveilled, imprisoned, tortured, and killed. On April 18, Anakbayan Silicon Valley, Student Advocates for Higher Education, and Students for Justice in Palestine will honor these fighters, past and present, with Activism is Not a Crime: A Cultural Night for Solidarity and Liberation. We will be sharing stories, poems, songs, and statements in support of those who have contributed to the fight for justice all over the world. We know that resisting imperialist wars, economic exploitation, racial inequality and profiling, unjust immigration policies, and environmental plunder doesn’t make you a criminal—it makes you an inspiration to the people so that the struggle continues. Please contact Justher at justher.g@gmail.com if you have questions, are interested in co-sponsoring, or sharing a 2-10 minute piece about activists and/or political prisoners. Deadline for performance sign-ups is April 15, 10pm.
