Liwayway is also often represented as her more well known incarnation as Hanan, the goddess of the morning. She prefers to be in the background quietly performing her duties. But regardless of her shyness, Liwayway’s presence, the bringing dawn to the land, is one of the most important. “Liwayway” in Tagalog literally means Dawn and her manifestation, the breaking of dawn or daybreak, is known as “bukang-liwayway.” .
